its what installs with some game to "prevent cheaters". Whether it's safe or not, I'd rather not start getting into my conspiracy theories

by safe I mean will it affect my computer since it is a rootkit and all and will it screw it up... is it used for anything else other than its function, have you guys had any problems

They are indeed rootkits, but I've never had any issues with. Whether or not they access your personal data, I'm not sure. I don't typically trust free to play companies now days though..if you're not the consumer..you're the product being sold..that's free to play games

I've been wondering this too, seeing as i got a new computer. I dont have any personal information for them to steal.. unless they want to get my passwords for other games or social networks lol, which i doubt they do. So i should be fine then right? Will i notice a difference in my computer's performance? I've been wondering because I want to try both Cabal and Lineage 2 (both have gameguard)

They wouldn't target phone numbers, passwords or any of that. It would simply scan your browsing history and information like that, in which they would sell the information to advertising companies to better target advertisements and marketing research. Stuff like that..Facebook is known to do the same thing..it puts a cookie on your computer that tracks every website you go to..if there's a facebook emblem on that website, even though you're signed out of facebook..the website is still tracking your unique ID cookie and that cookie is telling facebook what websites you're visiting. It's all shady stuff but if you're worried about it..simply don't use it.

what i am worried about is a slow in my computers performance or problems with my computer. Will any of that happen?
