I wrote a new real-time browser-based business simulation game, and it's text-based with graphics, so far it just started in open beta (forever free and will not delete players) and we have about 4 active players
Details that most people don't care about: I always wanted to design a game that will not give an enormous advantage to players-who-pay-a-lot or players-who-has-been-around-for-too-long, and as my first I just wrote a browser-based game (mainly because the networking connection and the user interface parts are already there). It is currently in open beta, so if you can, please try it and let me know what you think. The current focus of the game is to give players more freedom, so they can building factories from different industries with different products, with R&D to research and improve the quality of products, and stores to sell the products with a dynamic market price based on supply and demand and product quality, and in the future random world events like drought, storms, pests. Other options are trading with other players in B2B markets and investing in other players' companies through the stock market. In general there is NO PK, as players cooperate with each other by focusing in different industries. (If your focus is mainly on making high quality car bodies, you probably will let someone else do the rubber planting for the car tires) Completed sections:
Currently under development:
The game is here: www.ratjoy.com I apologize if the registration is annoying for requiring a valid e-mail, (you can always use some temporary e-mail like something@mailinator.com), it's mainly to keep spambots away. Again, please comment here or in the game if you think anything needs improvement. This type of games can really use more players. A few screenshots: ![]() ![]() ![]()

Don't mean to revive a dead thread, but the new store system seems very, very interesting, AND it is the direct result of player suggestion.

well, I like economical simulators. but 2 w8 4 hours to build plantations or whatever in beginning is pretty awkward

I guess you're right, I need to do some work on balancing - maybe cutting the expansion time to 25% would be perfect.... So probably from 15 min per square meter now to something like 4 min each.
But I'm sure you missed a few things: You actually start with a 200 m^2 plantation, and all new players can click on any current expansion to instantly complete it since about 10 days ago. |

200^m gives me only 13h of plant growing in the beginning, nothing more

Sorry, I'm a little confused by what you mean.
Once the stock market is fully complete, new players will get the option to act as CEO of old player's companies, but not at the moment. But I honestly think the instant construction is a major advantage. Surely you can't expect to start out as the biggest player in the game right? Also the economy in the game is "prosperous" right now, so everyone is looking for suppliers, meaning you can sell your fruits at 300% the manufacturing cost and people will still buy. |
